When electing key employees, current work results were assessed and the recommendations of direct superiors taken into account. When electing employees, the principle that ensures filling of job positions with local people was followed.
Aigar Kallas, Chairman of the Management Board of RMK, confirmed that the choice of key employees is one of the most significant steps in implementing the new strategy. “The people elected are recognised by their colleagues for their great professional skills and knowledge, and they have also proved themselves to be capable leaders. The Management Board highly values the contribution of all employees of RMK and is sure that the best of them will find their place in the teams to be created by the key employees,” he assured.

In order to improve the work of RMK and ensure structural changes, the Management Board has decided to make changes in the coordination of forest management activities as well. In order to implement IT systems, Jaan Schults, the current Production Manager of Forest Management is, from now on, only engaged in IT development. He is supported in his work by Urmas Uus and Urmas Koljat. The tasks of the Production Manager will be assumed by Rainer Laigu, the current Forest Utilisation Specialist of the North-East Region. For the better preparation of silvicultural decisions and analysis of what has been done, the current Environmental Manager of Forest Management, Toomas Väät, will continue as the Silviculture Manager, and is supported in his work by Silvi Vinkman.

RMK is a profit-making state agency established under the Forest Act, mainly aimed at the sustainable and efficient management of the state forest. RMK grows reforestation materials, organises forest works, is engaged in the sale of forest and timber and organises game upkeep. In addition to this, RMK creates possibilities for nature hiking and forest holidays in recreational areas, and shapes nature awareness. RMK manages 38% of Estonia’s forests.
