RMK earned EUR 64.3 million in sales revenue in first six months 01.08

The sales revenue of RMK for the first six months of 2011 was EUR 64.3 million.
A year ago RMK earned EUR 49.8 million in sales revenue which represents an annual growth of 29%.

In the first half of this year, RMK made a net profit of EUR 14.4 million. This is twice as high than a year earlier when the profit stood at EUR 7.1 million.

"In the second quarter, the main focus was in forest renewal,“ explained Aigar Kallas, chairman of the management board of RMK. “This spring RMK planted a record number of tree plants – 13 million or 3 million plants more than a year ago. A total of 1,100 people were hired temporarily for forest renewal works,“ added Aigar Kallas.

The majority of revenue came from the sale of timber and wood chip. In the first six months of the year, RMK sold 1.26 million cubic metres of timber for EUR 55.8 million. Average sale price of timber was EUR 44.06 per cubic metre which is 17% more than in the same period last year. In the first half, 0.15 million cubic metres of wood chip were sold for EUR 5.5 million. Average sale price amounted to EUR 36.18 per cubic metre.

In the budget for 2011, RMK forecasts EUR 125 million as sale revenue and EUR 27 million in profit.

RMK is a profit-making state agency established under the Forestry Act, aimed at sustainable and efficient management of the state forest. RMK grows reforestation materials, organises forestry works, is engaged in the sale of forest and timber and organises game upkeep.In addition, RMK establishes opportunities for hiking in nature and forest recreation on recreational areas, in Estonia’s five national parks and 40 other protected areas, and shapes awareness of nature. RMK manages 38% of Estonia’s forests.
