Lahtvee and Tõniste approved as new members of Supervisory Board of RMK 13.11


With the 12 November government order, changes were made in the composition of the Supervisory Board of the State Forest Management Centre (RMK); the new members are Valdur Lahtvee and Toomas Tõniste. On the basis of the resolution of the Riigikogu from 1 October, Valdur Lahtvee was appointed as a member of the Supervisory Board of RMK in place of Tiina Oraste. Rein Järvelill, the former adviser to the Minister of Finance, left the Supervisory Board.

With the Government of the Republic order, the following persons have been appointed to the Supervisory Board of RMK: Ülle Rajasalu (Chairman of Supervisory Board), Rita Annus, Helmer Jõgi, Tõnis Kõiv, Andres Lume, Ivar Sikk , Andres Talijärv, Valdur Lahtvee and Toomas Tõniste.

The Riigikogu shall appoint the members of the Supervisory Board by a resolution on the proposal of the Environmental Committee of the Riigikogu. The Supervisory Board shall be formed for three years.

RMK is a profit-making state agency established under the Forestry Act, aimed at sustainable and efficient management of the state forest. RMK grows reforestation materials, organises forestry works and is engaged in the sale of forest and timber and the upkeep of wild animals. In addition, RMK provides opportunities for hiking in nature and resting in forest recreation areas, and shapes awareness of nature. RMK manages 38% of Estonia’s forests.
